about

The Hanuman Chalisa is a 40 verse prayer written in the 16th century by Tulsidas, a Hindu poet-saint. It is said that chanting this prayer helps us to embody the qualities of Hanuman including a commitment to selfless service, devotion, strength.

For me, chanting this prayer has helped to "cleanse the mirror of [my] heart" as said so eloquently by Krishna Das. I have chanted this prayer in times of great pain and also in times of great love and joy. The Hanuman Chalisa can help give us the strength to connect with the deepest longing in our hearts, which is love- the love that lives within.

The first track on the CD includes rich instrumentation and is a modern take on the Hanuman Chalisa. The second track is stripped down to simply vocals and harmonium, making it ideal for adding your own percussion or vocals during your practice. The words to the prayer are provided below.
